On Thursday the 8th of May, a selected group of students went to a World Vision conference to learn about the 40 Hour Challenge 2025. Jonathan, the amazing Dad of one of the students who went to the conference, drove us to and from the event and looked after us for its duration.
In the conference, we learned about how families in the Solomon Islands are struggling to get enough food each day due to climate change. 1 in 6 children in the Solomon Islands struggle to get enough food each day. Climate change causes tides to rise, rotting and washing away crops and droughts that kill the crops. The high tides also make fishing hard. Most Solomon Islanders rely on fishing as their main source of food and income.
For this year’s 40 hour challenge, we are raising money to help people living in the Solomon Islands get more food to eat and become ready for whatever climate change throws their way.
The Solomon Islands put out 0.01 percent of the world’s pollution, and the effects they’re experiencing are some of the worst in the world.
We’re hoping to raise $10,000 and have two hundred people sign up to help make life in the Solomon Islands better.
