This year’s Epro 8 Challenge, a competitive event where student teams integrate engineering, problem-solving and innovation to build mechanical devices, saw two of our teams make it to the grand finals. Team 1, consisting of Marco, Jono, Sophie and Josh and Team 2, with Phoebe, George, Alex and Maisie placed in the top 4 for both the quarter and semi-finals. The builds involved sophisticated systems of electronic delay and limiting switches. For the grand finals, the theme was old technology with mostly difficult mechanical builds. Both teams chose to construct a working typewriter with gear driven type settings. In the end, Team 1 clocked their challenge and tidied their space just in time to take a 3rd place finish. Congratulations to both our teams who competed long hours over three days and collaborated brilliantly.
