Winter sports were a huge hit this year, especially netball! The coaches for each team were: Miss McIntosh for the A and B teams, Ms Johns for the Red and Blue teams, Miss Meder for the Maroon and Navy teams, and Miss Kumar for the Purple team. A big thank you to our parent helpers, Trevor Shepherd, Wendy Lynch, and Peter Dooley, for their support this season.
Our netball teams were phenomenal this winter, braving the cold afternoons. We celebrated epic wins, endured nail-biter games, and had a few “did that just happen?!” moments. Everyone gave 100% at training and on game days, consistently demonstrating amazing teamwork and sportsmanship.
A Team
The A team had a tremendous season with big wins, tough losses, and tight finishes. A huge thanks to Miss McIntosh for coaching us to be our best. One of our best moments was beating a team in our final game that we had previously lost to. We won the majority of our games, but the ones we lost were head-to-head battles that went right to the end. The atmosphere was incredible, with teams cheering each other on until the final whistle.
B Team
The B team had an outstanding season and deserved every win. They never gave up, even in the tightest games. Peter, the B team’s coach, was fantastic and helped us anywhere on the court. The team never stopped cheering for one another, from running down the court to celebrating a goal. We always had faith in each other, and that’s what matters most in a team sport! We ended the season with a bang, winning our final game. The team we played was known for being pushy, but we didn’t let that stop us from giving our all.
Red and Blue Teams
The Red and Blue teams practiced every Monday during lunch in preparation for our Tuesday afternoon games. After our bus ride, we would walk across the rugby field to the netball courts, eventually running to the baseline to start our warm-up. Everyone always played their hardest, even against tough opponents. It was always exciting to win, and we were always eager for the next game. We learned to throw the ball swiftly to make it harder for the opposing team to get an interception. Everyone enjoyed themselves and there was a lot of support and encouragement. A huge thank you to Ms Lynch and Ms Johns for their guidance.
Purple, Maroon, and Navy Teams
The Purple team had a great season with some incredible comebacks, ending up winning nine out of ten games! We got to know each other better and had a lot of fun. Thanks to Miss Kumar for her excellent coaching. The Maroon team was always inclusive, tried their hardest, and supported each other regardless of the game’s result. The Navy team collaborated well and encouraged each other both on the court and on the sidelines. We demonstrated great sportsmanship and were aware of our surroundings, moving into open spaces to receive passes. Thanks to Miss Meder, our great coach.
The A Team are now looking forward to the Koru Games at the end of the term.
