Whānau Hui Term 2

He tino whakawhetai ki ngā whānau katoa i tae mai ki te tautoko i tā tātou Hui Whānau.

A huge thank you to all the Whānau who came to support our Whānau hui in Week 3. It was a great night to catch up with our Māori Whānau to gather, to kōrero and think about the future of our Kura. There was a huge turnout of both whānau and staff on the night.

CSKI ran 3 really successful workshops on the night. One of them was learning our school haka which came from our Whānau Hui in Term 1. I really want to pass on my thank you to our Mānaurau Māori leaders and other students who support this workshop in teaching whānau the school haka.

Another workshop was around Matariki and gaining some voice in how we can work as a Kura to celebrate this within our school. We will be having Matariki challenges around our Kura and the team is working around the idea of a hangi which was quite a popular idea on the night. Watch this space for more information about Matariki.

The last workshop was run by Paerau from Whānau Engagement Tuahiwi to discuss High school transition goals. It was a great opportunity for our whānau to meet Paerau and connect about all the work he has been doing with our Māori students in school.

We are looking forward to our next Whānau Hui on 31st July in Term 3. If you have any ideas, suggestions or questions about Whānau Hui, please do not be scared to contact me at h.barr@chchsouth.ac.nz.

Ngā mihi nui,

Hayden Barr.
