On Thursday, 20th May, we were delighted to welcome members of our whānau Māori to the school for our second whānau hui evening of the year. Our focus for the night was ‘Whakanui ki ngā Akoranga Māori’—celebrating our Māori learners. It was wonderful to see both familiar and new faces coming together to share kai, learn rākau games, and build connections.
A special highlight of the evening was welcoming members of our Manurau Māori Leadership group, who introduced themselves with their Mihi and Pepeha. Despite a few nerves, our students stood with immense mana and truly embraced the challenge. We are incredibly proud of them!
To wrap up the evening, we opened the floor to discuss how our school might celebrate Matariki this year. There are some fantastic ideas in the works, and we look forward to sharing these exciting plans with our kura community closer to the time.
