Kua hua te marama – Something has completed a full cycle
On Saturday 23rd November Te Rōpū Harikoa went to the Town Hall to perform at the annual Tūhono festival run by Mātua Steve (Kapa Haka Tutor). Let’s say that we did not leave there feeling sad or empty-handed.
After many weeks of hard work with our tutor Mātua Steve and giving up some classes, we have some great results to share with you:
1st place Waiata-a-ringa
1st place Waiata Choral
1st place Haka
1st place overall champions of Tūhono.
Thank you to Peytyn Holland, Guy Williams, and Aniwa Aitkins for their support this year for Kapa Haka. It takes a village (team) of inspiring people to lead this amazing group. Huge thank you to Steve Reid as well for his leadership in getting the rōpū ready for Tūhono. We are looking forward to continuing all the hard mahi next year for 2025.
