Te rōpū Harikoa, our Christchurch South Karamata Intermediate Kapa Haka group, made us incredibly proud with their performance at the annual Tūhono Kapa Haka Festival on Saturday, 29th November.
After weeks of dedicated practice, the team finally took to the stage to compete against other intermediate schools from across Canterbury. Every single student truly represented our kura and the culture with mana.
Our performance included:
- Waiata (Song): “Tu Whiti”
- Waiata-ā-ringa (Action Song): “Pakipaki”
- School Haka
We are delighted to announce that the raw power and passion of our Haka earned the team a commendable 3rd place in that section of the competition!

Matua Steve Reid: A massive thank you to Matua Steve, not only for tutoring and guiding Te rōpū Harikoa to this success, but also for running the Tūhono festival itself, allowing us all to celebrate Kapa Haka!
Our Kapa Haka Leaders: A huge well done to our student leaders who showed fantastic commitment and leadership throughout the practice process and on the day.
