Last Friday of Term 2, our school hall transformed into a vibrant concert venue for our annual Battle of the Bands. The energy was palpable as students and staff gathered to witness phenomenal musical talent and celebrate the creativity thriving within our school.
It was an afternoon of incredible performances, showcasing the dedication and hard work of every musician who took the stage. We were honored to have two highly respected figures in the music community, Petrina Thomas-Chisholm and Forrest Sharp, serve as our judges. A special highlight of the evening was Art Van Tongeren, who captivated the audience with a powerful performance of his own original song.
Celebrating the Winners
The competition was fierce, but ultimately, a few acts rose above the rest. We extend a massive congratulations to all the winners:
- Strolling Stone was awarded the top prize as the Overall Winning Band. Their performance captivated the judges and the audience alike, proving they are a force to be reckoned with.
- Aura Farmer secured a well-deserved recognition as the Runner-Up.
- Melina Panapa was recognized for her incredible stage presence and vocal ability, earning the title of Star Vocalist.
We also want to give special recognition to The Nothing and The Tinkerbells, both of whom received credible mentions for their strong performances and contributions to the night’s success. Every band brought their unique sound and passion to the stage.
The Road to Band Quest
The excitement isn’t over yet! Our Battle of the Bands was just the beginning. We are thrilled to announce that all four of our incredible bands—Strolling Stone, Aura Farmer, The Nothing, and The Tinkerbells—will now represent our school in the upcoming Band Quest competition.
Band Quest is where our talented musicians will compete against bands from other schools, showcasing their skills on a wider stage. We encourage everyone to mark their calendars and come out to support our bands as they take on this exciting challenge.
Join us on Saturday, August 16, at the James Hay Theatre to cheer on our bands and watch them battle it out! We are incredibly proud of their achievements and can’t wait to see them shine.
