On Monday, 7 December, three CSKI teams headed to the Hagley Netball Courts for the Term 4 Mixx Korfball Tournament. The day began hot and muggy, but the weather quickly turned cold and rainy. Thankfully, Tracy Baron came to the rescue with a delivery of school jackets, helping our players stay warm and focused for the games ahead.
CSKI 1 started the day strongly, topping their pool with three convincing wins. CSKI 2 also finished at the top of their group after a determined and hard-fought victory over a strong Heaton side. CSKI 3 faced the toughest pool of the day and battled hard in every match, showing resilience despite finishing last in their group.
In the semi-finals, CSKI 1 and CSKI 2 met in an exciting all-CSKI clash, with CSKI 2 scoring in the final moments to secure their place in the championship match. CSKI 1 went on to defeat a solid Queenspark team in a tense penalty shootout, earning a well-deserved 3rd place overall.
CSKI 2 faced St Martin’s 1 in a thrilling final. The match was evenly contested from start to finish, and with the score tied at full time, the winner was decided by a penalty shootout. CSKI 2 put up a brave fight but were edged out, finishing as runners-up.
Overall, it was a fantastic day of competition, with CSKI proudly claiming 2nd and 3rd place. A special congratulations goes to Milana, who was named one of the MVPs of the final for her outstanding performance.
Thank you to our parent helpers and the keen supporters who braved the weather (and the parking!) to cheer on our players. We couldn’t have achieved the success we did without your support.
