Staying Safe Online

It is essential that all students understand how to protect themselves from hurtful online behavior and what to do if you see or witness cyberbullying. Here are some tips to keep in mind:

  1. Think Before You Post
Always remember that what you post online can be seen by many people, even if you delete it later. Think carefully about the things you share—whether it’s a message, photo, or video. If you wouldn’t say or share it in person, don’t say it online.
  2. Set Privacy Settings
Check your social media accounts to make sure your privacy settings are tight. Limit who can see your posts, and only accept friend requests or followers from people you know.
  3. Be Kind Online
Treat others with respect in all your online interactions. Kindness goes a long way in creating a positive online environment and helps prevent cyberbullying from happening in the first place.

If you feel you are being bullied,

    1. Don’t reply
  • Talk to someone you trust
  1. Collect evidence:  Save screenshots or recordings of the bullying incidents.
  2. Block harmful content

Remember, you have the right to feel safe online. Always reach out for help if you need it, and don’t hesitate to speak up if something doesn’t feel right. Stay safe and be kind online!
