The Social Awareness Leadership Team have been busy working on a range of fantastic initiatives around the school.
40 Hour Challenge
This year, 45 students participated in the 40 Hour Challenge. Overall, they have raised an incredible amount of $5320.30. We have also amazingly received a Silver Fundraising Award presented in Assembly by a World Vision Ambassador.
There were a wide range of creative challenges that students came up with, such as being tied to your twin for 40 Hours, 40 Bags of Rubbish in 40 hours, 40 flips on the trampoline every hour for 40 hours, 40 chapters of a book in 40 hours, 40 hours living out of a bag, 40 hours of making and selling things and 40 hours wearing what their siblings chose.
Thanks to these participants from our school, people in need in Timor-Leste will be equipped with the resources needed to unlock underground forests. The money raised will also teach farmers about climate-smart agriculture and businesses, as well as how to keep forests healthy for years to come.
Jammies for June
As part of this years ‘Jammies for June’ initiative, Christchurch South collected three large tubs worth of pyjamas and blankets to be distributed to those in need. This was an incredible show of generosity by our community and a fantastic demonstration of our school values of Koha and Support.
Youth Hub Fundraiser
On Thursday 8th August, we hosted a fundraiser for the Christchurch Youth Hub. This was a non-uniform day where students were encouraged to wear clothes that represented them. It was fantastic to see the wide range of items that students chose to wear.
We raised $524.30 which was an excellent effort! This money will go towards the development of the Youth Hub which is currently being built with Stage One due to open later this year.
