On Tuesday, August 27th, over 90 excited students headed to Porters Ski Area in Canterbury for a fun-filled day on the slopes. For many, it was their very first time skiing, and the anticipation was high as we arrived at the base of the mountain.
Students were guided by skilled ski instructors, who introduced them to the basics of skiing and gave them the confidence to tackle the snow. The beginners’ slope was buzzing with determination and laughter as students found their balance and practiced their first turns.
As the day went on, independence and confidence grew. Many students progressed from the learner slope to more advanced runs, challenging themselves to go further and faster while still staying safe. Watching students encourage each other, celebrate successes, and persevere through tumbles made the day especially memorable.
The trip was not only about skiing, but also about building resilience, teamwork, and independence. The crisp mountain air, the excitement of learning new skills, and the joy of shared experiences made this adventure one to remember.
A huge thank you to the teachers, parent helpers, and Porters staff who made the day possible. It was an unforgettable experience, and we look forward to hitting the slopes again next year!
