Sheppard Year 7 EOTC Adventures!
What an incredible series of trips our Sheppard Year 7s have had recently! We are so proud of the teamwork and spirit shown by all our students.
We would like to extend a massive thank you to our wonderful whānau helpers and instructors. These experiences simply wouldn’t be possible without your time and support.
Sailing
Our first adventure was all about hitting the water. We had an awesome time building our own rafts before putting our sailing skills to the test. It was great to see everyone showing such high levels of teamwork—catching each other’s boats and offering guidance as we navigated the waves.
We were fortunate to have perfect weather and even managed to fit in a swim off the pontoon!
River Crossing
Before heading to the river, we spent time in class practising our knot-tying. This proved essential when it came time to build rafts that actually floated! Fortunately, most of our vessels stayed dry, and we had a blast navigating downstream.
We also put our safety skills into practice, learning how to cross rivers with flowing currents and how to use our backpacks as flotation devices.
Quail Island
Our final trip took us to Quail Island. The day started on a high note with the ferry ride across the harbour, which was a definite highlight for many.
Once on the island, we stepped back in history and took in the incredible sights. From hunting for crabs in the rock pools to visiting the famous shipwreck, it was a day full of discovery and fun.
