Kia orana, bula vinaka, malo e lelei, talofa lava and warm Pasifika greetings!

On Wednesday 13 November, 48 members of our Pasifika group performed at the Town Hall in a massed choir combining 16 primary, intermediate and secondary schools from across Ōtautahi. The performance was a vibrant display of colours, cultures, languages and performance pieces. All of our performers brought the energy and were complimented by teachers from other kura (schools) about being great role models for the younger tamariki who were performing.

We are grateful to our tutors at Tagata Mai Saute Academy, Albany and Noah, for their guidance and support in getting us ready for the performance. The show was engaging and showcased the unique and diverse cultures of the Pacific Islands.

Miss Meder and Miss Birtch were proud of the resilience our group showed during a long day of rehearsals leading up to the showcase. They also want to recognise our soloists who performed and represented our school with pride. Singers: Melina P, Sheina R. Dancers: Manawa T, Kiana H.

If you didn’t have a chance to catch the performance, there will be a sample on show at Maunga Teitei the Kahukura Cluster performance next week.
