In Week 6, the Rutherford Year 8 students travelled to Orton Bradley Park for a memorable three-day, two-night camp filled with challenge, adventure, and plenty of fun. With warm, sunny weather throughout, students were able to fully enjoy the stunning surroundings near Diamond Harbour.
The programme was packed with activities. Groups rotated through low ropes, high ropes, abseiling and a bush walk. The ropes courses pushed many students beyond their comfort zones, and challenged teamwork, balance, and courage, while the bush walk allowed students to explore nature and learn practical skills. Even on the final day, despite tiredness, students showed resilience as they completed their final activities.
Camp life was just as enjoyable. Setting up tents, spending time with friends, and enjoying free time created strong bonds across the group. Students played games such as volleyball, cricket, and football, while others relaxed at the playground, making the most of their time together.
Evenings brought extra excitement, with games like Smugglers’ Run and Human Stratego played by torchlight. These activities were energetic, competitive, and a lot of fun, with students fully engaged.
Overall, camp was an incredible experience that built resilience, strengthened friendships, and created lasting memories. Kā mihi nui to all the parents and staff whose support and organisation made this camp such a success.
