On September 5, our Rutherford 7s students had a fantastic and rewarding day visiting Somerfield Te Kura Wairepo. The purpose of their visit was to teach Year 2 students about the concept of mana, a core value in Māori culture.
Leading up to the visit, our Rutherford 7s students took on the significant task of creating engaging and informative resources for the Year 2 teachers. These resources were designed to help the teachers introduce the idea of mana to their young students in a way that was both accessible and fun.
When the big day arrived, our students were incredible! Both Miss Hall and Mr Barr were on-site and were extremely impressed with the level of engagement and maturity shown by our Year 7s. They worked patiently and enthusiastically with the younger learners, and it was clear they had made a positive impact. The Somerfield students were excited and responsive, a direct result of the effort and care our students put into the project.
This collaboration was not only a great learning experience for our students but also a wonderful opportunity to share and connect with another kura. We are so proud of the fantastic work our Rutherford 7s did and the excellent way they represented our school.
