R4 had an incredible opportunity to visit the brand-new Parakiore Recreation and Sport Centre and check out the amazing leisure pools and hydroslides!
To secure this exciting chance, R4 submitted a creative 30-second video explaining why they deserved to be the first class to experience the new facility. While we didn’t win the ultimate prize, R4’s video was so impressive that we were placed on the shortlist, giving our students this exclusive pre-opening sneak peek!
We extend a huge thank you to the Christchurch City Council for providing R4 with this amazing experience.
Trip Highlights
- Awesome Pools: The students were absolutely thrilled with the variety and size of the new leisure pools.
- Thrilling Hydroslides: The highlight for many was undoubtedly the exhilarating hydroslides, particularly the gravity-defying trap door drop!
Even our very own Mr. Barr (R4 Teacher) bravely gave the trap door hydroslide a go.
“The pools were awesome, and the trap door slide was so thrilling! We can’t wait for everyone to try it,” was the general consensus from the R4 students.

R4 can confidently tell the whole school that when Parakiore Recreation and Sport Centre officially opens, it is going to be an absolutely fantastic facility for everyone to enjoy!
