As many of you know, our school sets high standards for the way we conduct ourselves at CSKI. We have a variety of ways in which we recognise students who show our school values of Aim High, Commitment, Support, Koha and Integrity. This includes our Flying High tickets which accumulate towards our Values badges. Our school values are foundational to what we are all about here at South and students spend time in class learning more about the positive behaviours which help show the South Way.
We have an ‘Expected Behaviour Matrix’ which underpins the way we teach and learn at school. Our PB4L team has been selecting bi-weekly focus points which are promoted to students via classroom activities such as Circle Time discussions, promoted during Assembly to the whole school and shared via our weekly notices. In Term 2 we have been focusing on our overarching theme of “Citizenship” and how we can promote this through our positive behaviour.
Weeks 1-3 focused on demonstrating ‘Citizenship at School’ with a focus on punctuality, being on time and being prepared for various aspects of school. This included arriving to school before the 8:40 am bell, making sure devices were charged and ready for learning and having PE and sports gear ready for lessons and practices leading into Winter Sport and Leisure Education rotations. Many students had the chance to get activities signed off their Aim High booklets which related to being punctual.
Our Expected Behaviour Matrix (EBM) states we should:
- Be on time
- Being prepared for the school day with correct equipment and gear
- Be in the right place at the right time
Weeks 4-6 are currently focused on ‘Being an Upstander’ with links to our Pink Shirt Day, how to support someone who may be being bullied and what our procedures are at CSKI if you think someone needs support.

Our EBM states we should:
- Respect others’ rights to learn and thrive at school
Our term will end of with a focus on ‘Digital Citizenship’ and how we can ensure we are staying safe online and promoting positive interactions with others in the digital space.
Our EBM states we should:
- When online present yourself as a positive, respectful citizen
- Give positive and constructive feedback on digital platforms
- Support others to become better digital citizens
Below you can see some great work from home rooms about what ‘Being an Upstander’ means to them.
