At the end of this term, Christchurch South Karamata Intermediate participated in the Sau ia-fest ’25. 19 schools from around the Canterbury region celebrate Pasifika songs and dance. It was a night full of different cultures from around the Pacific.
Students had been practicing with our tutors and teachers for two terms in preparation for this performance, and we had 75 students participating, along with 3 soloists. Students had to learn 8 different songs across the Pacific. We would like to thank all students for representing Christchurch South and outstandingly demonstrating the South Way.
Student thoughts: We are very happy with what we have achieved, we have had a lot of fun learning different songs and dances, and we were excited to perform at the town hall to our whānau. Learning the language and the culture has been a real highlight for me. – Amelie Osbourne, H1.
