Talofa lava, kia orana, bula vinaka, malo e lelei!

We have had a huge amount of interest in our Pasifika performance group this term; thank you to the over 90 students who have registered to be part of our group this year. We appreciate your commitment to this cultural group and the overwhelming response.

Miss Birtch and Miss Meder are the teachers in charge of Pasifika group this year. We have been very impressed with the way our Year 8 students who were in Pasifika group in 2023 have stepped up and been teaching our new members the performance piece from last year as a starting point this term. There has been an outstanding demonstration of leadership to guide, teach, support and lead students who have never had experience with sasa or Pasifika dance before. Thank you to our wonderful Year 8 leaders; Pasene F, Kaleb TAH, Charlie P, Jayden W, Isla W, Te Aroha K-T, Sheina R, Lusia C-R, Aria F and Lucy S. You’ve demonstrated our value of Aim High exponentially this term.

Next term we have our tutors joining us from Tagata Mai Saute. We warmly welcome back Albany and new tutor, Noah, to CSKI to provide their expertise to our students. Stay tuned for performance opportunities later this year, with the Sau Ia Festival being held in Term 4 where we connect with other kura across our city for a vibrant Pasifika performance including music, drumming and dance.

Faafetai lava,

Miss Birtch and Miss Meder
