Native tree planting: 3rd planting of the year is on Sunday 4 Aug QEII Adventure Nature Trail, Red Zone, 10.00am – 12 noon.
Your help to plant 5,000 native trees and plants that schools have grown over the past year would be much appreciated. Great atmosphere with heaps of fellow student and parent enthusiasts. Please bring some drinking water, solid footwear and your favourite spade if you have one. There will be 450 spades on site, so everyone can help. The more the merrier.
Help our community help itself by developing this community asset that will last for generations to come. The grown forest will provide habitat and food for native birds and lizards as well as sequester carbon to help with global climate change. It’s also quite fun to plant a few plants.
This is the third of four plantings that will see 12,000 eco-sourced, student grown, native plants and trees in the ground:the first two at QEII were very successful. Christchurch South Karamata Intermediate, along with 21 other schools are currently involved in nurturing seedlings to mature plants and are proud to be contributing to our wider community in such a positive way.
The final planting day of the season will be also be at QEll Term 3 – Week 7 – Sunday 8 September 10-12 noon
Hope to see you there.
