Koru Games’ annual 3×3 basketball tournament proved to be a resounding success. The event witnessed a remarkable turnout of schools, showcasing a high caliber of youth basketball. Held over three days, the first two days were dedicated to placement matches. Christchurch South entered two teams: a girls’ squad and an open team, each comprising five talented athletes. These students represented the outstanding basketball talent within the school, their determination and tenacity was highlighted throughout their gameplay.

Over the initial two days, both the open and girls’ teams emerged victorious in all but one of their qualifying matches, securing top-four seeds in their respective brackets. The final day witnessed a series of hard-fought contests, with lead changes and nail-biting finishes. The girls’ team demonstrated exceptional intensity, resulting in a well-deserved third-place finish.
The boys’ team faced a formidable challenge, their rise to the final marked by hard fought perseverance. The championship game was a thrilling game, decided by a single point in the closing seconds. Despite a valiant effort, the boys fell short by a narrow margin, securing a commendable second-place finish.
