On Tuesday, December 10th, the Sheppard Year 8s hosted their 2nd annual Ki o Rahi tournament. Last year’s inaugural event saw just a Year 7 competition while this year it was expanded to include the entire school, separated in two brackets according to year. Organised by committee, seventeen S2 and S3 students ran training and refereeing sessions leading up to the tournament.
Game day was a scorcher, nearing 30 degrees on the field. Exciting play ensued among the Year 7s and culminated in a showdown between Hillary and Ngata for the finals. In the end, Ngata took the crown by a score of 6-4. The Year 8 finals saw Sheppard defeat Rutherford to retain the title. It is the Sheppard 8s hope that the Ki o Rahi tournament will be taken up by their counterparts and become a tradition at CSKI.
