On Friday 6 December, CSKI came alive with a dazzling display of colour as students and staff celebrated Diversity Day. Organised by the Cultural Awareness Leadership Team, the event was a vibrant success, showcasing the school’s commitment to celebrating diversity, culture, and inclusion.
The non-uniform day encouraged students and teachers to dress in bright, neon, and day-glow colours to represent their identity or culture, and the response was nothing short of spectacular. From fluorescent greens to eye-catching pinks, the school grounds were transformed into a colourful celebration of diversity. A gold coin donation was collected, with all proceeds going towards future initiatives to celebrate and promote diversity at CSKI.
The highlight of the day was the friendly competition to find “the brightest” pod and teacher. Teachers submitted photos of their classes to a panel of judges, who carefully deliberated over the entries. At assembly in Week 9, the winners were announced: Sheppard Pod proudly claimed the title of Brightest Pod. Meanwhile, Mr Barr (H3) dazzled his way to victory, winning the coveted Brightest Teacher award.
Hannah van Nieuwkerk (H3), Hannah Baron (S2) and Selena Budiyanto (N2) won the creative colouring and design competition. Their designs were transformed into special “flying highs” that were handed out during the festivities at lunchtime by the roaming photographers who were out and about, capturing the energy and spirit of the day.
The Cultural Awareness Leadership Team would like to thank everyone who participated and supported Diversity Day. The overwhelming enthusiasm and creativity on display reflected the school’s strong sense of community and pride in its diverse identities.
