On 29th August, our school community came together to support the New Zealand Cancer Society as part of their annual Daffodil Day Appeal.
The day was organised by our student Social Awareness Leadership Team, who did a wonderful job of bringing the event to life. Students were encouraged to come to school in non-uniform yellow-themed clothing as a symbol of hope.
On the morning of Daffodil Day, there was a small gathering at school to commission a seat in memory of Mark Callaghan, a previous Board Chairperson who had a significant impact on our school (there is more about this in a separate article).
The Social Awareness Leadership Team also worked with the Visual Arts Leadership Team to create a special art activity for classes to complete. Students were able to make daffodils out of pipe cleaners, which were then displayed in our shared learning spaces as a way of recognising and remembering the purpose of the day.
We are so proud of the effort and display of support shown by our students. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to this important cause!
