On Monday, 23 June, four teams from our school represented CSKI at the Term 2 Mixx Korfball Tournament held at the Hagley Netball Courts. It was a cold but sunny day – the low sun making shooting difficult, and the chilly conditions making it tough to hold onto the ball in the early rounds.
Despite challenges with sickness, injuries and last-minute changes, all four CSKI teams performed impressively, even with reduced numbers.
CSKI 1 were unbeaten in the round robin stage, finishing with two wins and a draw to top their pool. In the quarterfinals, they faced off against CSKI 2 in an all-CSKI showdown. CSKI 1 came out on top and went on to finish 3rd overall in Division A – a fantastic result.
CSKI 2 had the toughest draw of the tournament, taking on strong teams from St Martins, Horomaka, and Lincoln Primary. Despite the challenge, they showed resilience throughout the day and finished 7th in Division A.
Both CSKI 3 and CSKI 4 were unbeaten in their pool games. The two teams met in the Division B semi-final, with CSKI 3 narrowly taking the win.
CSKI 3 went on to win Division B, and CSKI 4 bounced back strongly to finish 3rd!
It was a hugely successful day for all involved. Our players represented CSKI with pride, teamwork, and determination throughout the tournament.
