On Monday, 2 December, CSKI took three teams to the Term 4 Mixx Korfball Tournament. CSKI 1 and CSKI 2 competed in A Grade, while CSKI 3 played in B Grade.
CSKI 1 faced a challenging start with several key players absent, taking some time to settle during pool play. They drew with Heaton, Queenspark, and Hillmorton, and secured a win against St Martins. This placed them in the playoffs for 5th to 8th place. CSKI 1 hit their stride in the playoffs, winning both their semi-final and final convincingly to claim 5th place overall.
CSKI 2 displayed determination throughout pool play, fighting hard to win three games before narrowly losing to St Martins. Thanks to points differential, they advanced to the playoffs for 1st to 4th place. After a hard-fought victory against Heaton, CSKI 2 faced Hillmorton in the final, where they were defeated. CSKI 2 finished as runners-up in A Grade.
CSKI 3, a mix of Year 8 and Year 7 players, showed great teamwork and resilience during pool play. They won two games and drew one, advancing to the playoffs for 1st to 4th place. In a thrilling semi-final, CSKI 3 triumphed over Hillmorton in a penalty shootout, progressing to the final against Queenspark. Despite a valiant effort, they narrowly lost in another penalty shootout, finishing as runners-up in B Grade.
Special congratulations to Emily Currie (S2) and Mercedes Williams (S4), whose exceptional skills and dedication earned them well-deserved spots in the tournament team.
