Port Hills Fire – Year 8 Camp

Thu Feb 15 09:13am

Our thoughts are with families who have had to evacuate and those asked to be ready to evacuate if required.

We have been in regular contact with the organisations we work with regarding our outdoor education day trips and camps. As a precautionary measure, and following many phone calls and considerations, we have decided to start making arrangements to bring our Year 8 students who are currently camping at Orton Bradley Park, back to school today. They are not in any immediate danger so have time to pack up in an orderly calm manner and return to school safely. We have buses organised to collect them this morning. Once the students are back at school our expectation is that they will continue their day at school and can be collected to go home at the end of the school day at 2:45pm.

Our Year 7 trip to Quail Island planned for today was cancelled on advice from DOC. These students are having a regular day at school.
