Ka mau te wehi! What a fantastic event we had last weekend attending the annual Tūhono Kapa Haka festival. Te Rōpū Harikoa (CSKI Kapa Haka Group) performed in the town hall last weekend in front of 500+ parents, students and other members of the Christchurch community. Our school was represented with strength and positivity on the night. We got feedback from the judges about our strong leaders Maadi, Charlie and Lucy. We also got some fantastic comments about our school haka and how we showed great collective actions and solid stances. Even though we had smaller group numbers than other schools, we still held our own and showed the other schools that we are powerful and confident. Ahakoa he iti he pounamu (Although it is small, it is greenstone/precious)!

Ka pai to all members of Te Rōpū Harikoa! Year 8s – we hope to see you in the future continuing your passion for Kapa Haka. I am very excited to be working with those next year who are in Year 7 and going back to take out the competition in 2023.

Whaia te iti Kahurangi ki te tuohu koe me he maunga teitei – seek the treasure you value most dearly: if you bow your head, let it be to a lofty mountain.
