Theatre Sports Competition – Heats

Another fantastic highlight for Performing Arts 2022 here at Christchurch South Karamata Intermediate. 2 of our Theatre Sports teams of students went to participate in the annual Court Theatre Theatre Sports Junior competition at Rangi Ruru Girls’ School on Saturday 5th November. Their improv skills were tested against other schools around Christchurch (which were mainly high schools).
Team A started the afternoon off competition against 3 other schools. They were the first team with a game that was not really the team’s favourite but the challenge was taken. After that, it was all smooth sailing by playing 2 of their favourite games ‘Yearbook’ and ‘Puppets’. The audience had a lot of laughs and were happy to see this team have the best time. Team A was only 1/2 a point off from 2nd place but at the end of the day they all left with big smiles on their face and we could not be prouder of them for participating and giving everything a go. Well done to Olivia, Lucy, Milly, Anna, and Leila who represented CSKI with courage and star performances.
Team B was up next in the evening and this team were fizzing and ready to go after hearing of Team A’s success. These students really blocked out the element of competition and wanted to get up to put on a good show for their audience. Which they delivered with big smiles on their face and had the judges cracking up. After playing 3 games and also scoring one of the highest scores in entertainment for the afternoon, we are proud to share that Team B won the heat and will be going through to the finals on 27th November performing at the Court Theatre. The expression on their face and even some of our faces were priceless. Congratulations and well done to Xavier, Iris, Es and Josh. We are excited to continue working with you and getting you ready for the final in 2 weeks time.
