Picture this: 90 spirited students from CSKI descending upon the picturesque slopes of Porters Ski Field, armed with a thirst for adventure and an insatiable passion for skiing. The sun was shining, the sky a radiant blue, and the mountains stretched out before us in all their majestic glory. Our ski trip was destined to be nothing short of legendary!

After a quick bus ride with our driver Robin, we gathered at the base of the slopes, a palpable sense of excitement hung in the air. We were about to embark on a day of snowy escapades like no other. But before we could conquer the mountains, we had to start from scratch, and that’s where the magic carpet came into play.

Yes, you heard it right: the magic carpet. No, it’s not a portal to another dimension, although it might as well have been! The magic carpet was a conveyor belt designed for beginners like us to effortlessly glide to the top of the bunny slopes. As we stood in line, some of us eagerly fumbled with our ski gear, while others couldn’t help but sneak a peek at the breathtaking views that surrounded us. Mountains, snow, and the promise of adventure—what more could one ask for?

The moment our ski boots touched the magic carpet, we were transported to a world of exhilaration. It felt like we were floating on air, being whisked away to a land where skiing dreams come true. The gentle ascent up the bunny slopes allowed us to take in the stunning scenery around us, a captivating panorama of snow-covered peaks and the occasional glimpse of a brave skier loosing control of their pizza and cascading into the ‘SLOW’ signs with a distinct lack of grace.

As we reached the top of the carpet, the real adventure began. Instructors from Porters Ski Field greeted us with smiles that radiated enthusiasm. They guided us through the basics of skiing, teaching us how to carve turns, maintain balance, and embrace the thrill of the downhill descent.

The afternoon was filled with even more skiing, laughter, and an occasional snowball fight (because what’s a ski trip without a snowball or two?). The sun had mellowed to a golden hue, casting a warm glow on the slopes, and the scenery seemed even more enchanting.

As the day drew to a close, we reluctantly said our goodbyes to Porters Ski Field, vowing to return and conquer the more challenging runs someday. The magic carpet had transformed us from novices to novices that could turn and stop (sometimes), and we left with hearts full of gratitude for the perfect weather, the breathtaking views, and the memories we had created together.

Our ski trip to Porters Ski Field had been nothing short of a fairy tale. We had ventured into the mountains as a group of students, but we returned as a family, bonded by our shared experiences and a newfound love for skiing. Until next time, Porters Ski Field—we’ll be back for more magic on the slopes!
