We have had such an amazing year for our Pasifika Performance Group with our numbers reaching a record high of 93 during the year!
It was fantastic to have performance opportunities including the Sau Ia Festival at the Aurora Centre, the Kahukura Celebration and the Ashburton Exchange. The students wore their uniforms with pride and represented our kura beautifully.
Our wonderful tutors from Tama Mai Saute, Albany, Faith and Ricky, taught us 2 siva and our sāsā wowed many with its speed and difficulty. Next year, we are looking forward to working with them again and creating a South Karamata sāsā for all students to learn.
To celebrate all the hard work our group has put in during the year, we held a celebration breakfast and invited fānau to come along. Faith taught everyone a siva and it was great to see everyone getting into the swing of things.
A huge shout out to Mair in the canteen for helping us to organise fresh fruit from the Funky Pumpkin – they kindly donated some of it to us as well! We are also so appreciative of Mr Solofuti’s mum as well for the koko Sāmoa, it was delicious! Le Tautua Atunuu Takeaways also provided the panikeke and pani popo which were huge hits!
Mr Solofuti has also been full of good vibes and energy this year, bringing enthusiasm and plenty of laughs!
Also a huge fa’afetai lava to Mrs Te Rangi-Henare for the awesome mahi she has poured into the Pasifika group over the last couple years. We will miss her organising and calming presence as she is on maternity leave next year. All the best for next year. Mr Solofuti.
We are looking forward to building on our fantastic year, next year!
