The CSKI Jazz Band recently attended Junior Jazz Jam, as part of the Christchurch Big Band Festival. We listened to jazz bands from other schools and performed our own set of jazz music in front of an appreciative audience and a judge. Every student performed excellently with the band playing music in three different jazz styles, producing tight accurate playing and creative improvised solos. Our performance earned us a Gold Award. We finished the day with a jam with the students from other schools. Thanks to Matua Clay from Cashmere High School for his guidance.
