Our team of girls won the overall CJCA Girls Cricket Festival competitive grade title on Wednesday and Thursday of Week 3. This is a team of incredible young ladies and it was a real pleasure to be the teacher in charge of this experience with them.
The girls dominated each game they played in. They backed each other up superbly and they demonstrated an amazing collective skillset. We are SO proud of them for taking our first competitive grade title in many years of getting oh so close!
It was a huge effort in energy sapping conditions with gusty winds and baking sun out at Hagley Park, but they made the runs flow off the bat, toppled wickets and caught with better accuracy than the competition. This win was thoroughly deserved but above all, the fantastic spirit with which they played was commented on by rival team coaches.
It may be the last competitive cricket outing for our Year 8s, but what a massive legacy and excellent blueprint they have left for our Year 7s to aspire to in 2023! CSKI appreciates how brightly all you stars shone for us in this tournament!
