Eleven students headed away to Nunweek Park for the Sevens Tournament ready to play their hearts out.
Monday started out with a draw against Heaton as we were getting used to the Sevens format and then we really took off to win our next 3 games fairly convincingly. By the end of the day, we only had one team left to play in our pool and we learned they also had 3 wins and a draw for the day. We went home feeling pretty confident for Day 2.
Tuesday morning started off cold and progressively got colder which meant it was harder to keep warm while waiting between games. Unfortunately, we lost our last pool game against Chisnallwood but we were still through to the quarter-finals after finishing pool play in 2nd place.
Our quarter final was a breeze and we had fun passing the ball around and having all of our team involved. However, when we got to our semi-final we went down by 1 try to Heaton after a well-fought battle. We were devastated at the loss but really keen to turn things around in our final for 3rd and 4th. Unfortunately, our final was a tough battle too and we, again, lost by 1 try – the boys really played their absolute best and should be proud of their efforts!
Overall, we came 4th in the tournament which is a huge success for us, especially as we had not played sevens together as a team prior to the tournament.
