Biketober was organised by the Health and Environment Group. It is a nationwide event held throughout October to encourage people to bike more. It also helps reduce climate change by not using cars, which results in fewer fume admissions.
At South, the Health and Environment Team provided 11 challenges at different locations around Christchurch. Students had to bike to the location (e.g., Margaret Mahy Playground, New Brighton Pier or Riccarton Bush), complete the challenge (e.g., Make your own sand art and take a picture off the New Brighton Pier or Climb to the top of the big blue twisty slide and take a selfie) and take a photo of you and your bike. Emily Muller (H4) and Ethan Parks (H4) showed particular commitment and won a canteen gift package as well as valuable house points for Hillary Pods. Congratulations to the students and Hillary Pod.
