Christchurch South Intermediate School is extremely well resourced to assist our students embrace the challenges of being a 21st century learner.
Our outstanding facilities include 16 new classrooms that exceed the Ministry of Education’s expectations for modern 21st century learning environments. They are very well resourced to meet modern learning needs with interactive digital projectors, high levels of access to netbook computers and wireless access to the school network and internet. The furniture enhances collaborative and individual learning and supports varied learning preferences and styles.
The school’s specialist facilities are equally well resourced and equipped to support strong programmes specifically designed to meet the needs of early adolescent students and the exciting challenges of the Years 7 and 8 curriculum.
Our recently upgraded Technology block incorporates the following rooms:
ICT is a strength of the school. Currently we have over 400 computers on site. There are 10 netbooks per homeroom, at least 2 computers per classroom and 8 more in each teams' common space, 2 mobile pods of laptops and specialist spaces equipped with desktop computers. Our new 'pods' of classrooms are all also equipped with interactive digital projectors and wireless access to the school network and the internet.
We have specialist rooms for Art, Performing Arts and a Science Lab. Foreign languages are also currently taught by a specialist languages teacher.
Our library is stocked with over 10,000 books specifically targeted for year 7 & 8 students.
Sports are well catered for with facilities that include 3 outdoor Basketball courts, 3 Netball courts, 2 Tennis courts, an artificial Cricket pitch, an indoor Volleyball court, 6 Table Tennis tables as well as Soccer, Hockey and Rugby fields.
