The Christchurch South chess team placed second in the Canterbury Inter School Competitive Chess Tournament on 7th August at Te Hapua. Congratulations to Ben, Utkarsh, Luke, and Alex. This was a full day tournament with the South team playing five games each and a total of 11 Year 7-8 schools in the Canterbury region participating.
An outstanding result, and the team are first reserves to attend Nationals in Tauranga if Cobham aren’t able to go.
Chess club runs lunchtimes every Wednesday in terms 2 & 3 in the library. If you’ve never played before, or even if you are a grand chess master, come along, we’d love to see you there.
Thanks to Sharon Manson for her support of the team and of Chess at our school.
Chess Team Success
