Congratulations to the 21 Christchurch South Intermediate School students who performedin last week's Voices Festival at the YMCA as part of the Kahukura Chorale.
This is the first time we have participated in the Voices Festival, but it certainly won't be the last - what a wonderful opportunity to show off our talent and be inspired by older singers. The Kahukura Chorale were the youngest group to perform, with most other Choirs coming from secondary schools. Our students were blown away by the harmonies, performance skills and soloists on show - what a great event!
We performed two songs: You Will Be Found, and Swing's the Thing. The audience loved You Will Be Found, and spontaneously brought out their phones to light up the song from the audience. It was a special moment. We brought the house down with Swing's the Thing, and got huge laughs when we took out our kazoos and serenaded everyone with a kazoo version of 'Big Noise From Winnetka'.
At the end of the evening we took away two awards: Best Soloists, and Most Outstanding Youth Choir... wowee! What a great event - we're already looking forward to next year!
