Huge congratulations to Madeleine for her second placing in the Year 7 & 8 section of the inaugural Kahukura Cluster Speech Competition. The premise of her speech was that, given the significant amount of natural resources needed to farm traditional Western animals, let alone the greenhouse gases that cows produce, we would be far better off farming insects as part of our regular diet. Just like she did during the school speech competition, Madeleine had the audience both laughing and squirming at the thought of how many bugs they had already eaten in foods such as chocolate and peanut butter, let alone the idea of crunching on crickets at their next evening meal. A very well delivered speech and a result to be proud of.
