On June 29th, 24 members of the CSKI Korfball Squad travelled to Celebration Stadium to participate in the Term 2 Year 7/8 Korfball Tournament. These players and the remaining members of the Korfball Squad train extremely hard every Thursday morning, and their efforts paid dividends at the tournament.

Our 'B' team was predominantly year 7 students who had never played competitive Korfball before. Whilst we came out of the gates slowly, our players improved considerably throughout the tournament. Our defence was particularly strong, whilst our attack prowess was beginning to show in the latter stages of the tournament. We are certainly richer for the experience.

Our 'A' team features some returning players from last years team and some fresh faces. The hard work that these players put in week in, week out, shown throughout the tournament. All 12 members of the A team played exceptionally well throughout the tournament and scored over 40 goals, whilst conceding only 3. We dominated Pool play, and after a couple of well fought playoff games, we were matched up with Kirkwood Intermediate in the final.

Playing in front of a large crowd, our players did not disappoint. They showcased their wonderful array of skill, effort and teamwork and emerged 7-1 victors. Safe to say that the match was capped off by an amazing half court buzzer beater by Lautasi Etuale that sent the crowd into a frenzy!

Special congratulations must go out to Amelie Martin and Will Hull who are both named in the team of the tournament.
